About

To live and work in every continent of the world before I’m 30′.

The seed of this goal was planted whilst I was on my university holidays working for 2 months on the Gold Coast of Australia. Even though Australia is very similar to my home country New Zealand, I found great love in the small changes, the new scenery, the people I met, the places I saw.

I went back to New Zealand to start my 3rd year of my Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a new love in life, ‘to travel’. My previous plan of going on and completing post grad at University was now history.  I spent the year thinking about how I was going to see the world whilst having my $30,000 student loan.

After passing my final year exams I completed an Outward Bound course in January 2003, there I committed to paper my goal, ‘to live and work in every continent of the world before I was 30’.

Then on April 7th 2003 I boarded the plane bound for South Korea as an innocent 21 year old. This was the start of my working the world journey. Little did I know this goal would consume my life and become my life.

About my Blog

My blog came about when I was deported from the US for working on a tourist visa. With my US girlfriend still in the States and me with a 10 year ban I had to earn some money to get back to mexico where we could rendesvous. A week before flying out to try and earn big money in the Western Australia mining industry I had an unfortunate accident. I fell 5 metres from a rope swing fracturing my vertebra (Pair Plunge 20m From Bush Swing).  I had Doc’s orders to do absolutely nothing while I recovered, no work for at-least 2-6 months.

I took a loan from my sister and bought a lap top. I started to collate my past 5 years of bulk emails (there was no facebook back then). Little did I know that a couple of years later the commisioning editor of Australasia’s largest independant book publisher would read my blog and offer me a contract. I sometimes think falling 5 metres from that rope swing was one of the best things I did!
